Terms & conditions

For Cartly Groceries (“Cartly”). Plain language, like everything else here. Effective October 21, 2026.

1. What Cartly is

Cartly is a grocery price-comparison service for Toronto and the GTA, available on the web and as an iPhone app. Cartly collects prices that stores list publicly — including on Instacart and DoorDash — and shows them side by side so you can decide where to shop.

Cartly does not sell groceries. There is no checkout in Cartly, we never take payment for products, and we are not the seller of anything you buy. When you decide to buy, you buy from the store, under that store’s terms.

2. Prices are observations

Every price in Cartly is an observation collected at a point in time. Prices vary by store, platform and day; they may be out of date, may contain errors, and may have changed — including between the moment you see a price in Cartly and the moment you reach the store. The price you actually pay is always the price in effect at the store where you buy.

Where Cartly identifies a “Best Price” or “Best Value”, that is a comparison of the observations we hold at that moment, on the basis described in the app (lowest price; or best price per unit). It is information, not a guarantee that the price will be available when you shop.

3. Testing status

Cartly is a pre-launch service in testing. The iPhone app is distributed through Apple TestFlight and the service is free while in testing. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn without notice during testing, and data collected during testing (including lists and history) may be reset. We will give reasonable notice of changes that matter where we can.

4. Your account

  • You sign in with an email address (with a one-time code), or with Google or Apple sign-in where available. No phone number is required.
  • Keep your sign-in methods secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Give accurate information, and use one account per person.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time via privacy@cartlyapp.ca. See the privacy policy.

5. Acceptable use

  • Use Cartly only for your own personal, non-commercial shopping decisions, and only as the law allows.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract Cartly’s data, and do not use automated means to access the service except through the interfaces we provide.
  • Do not interfere with the service, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or submit false price reports or other misleading content.
  • We may suspend or end access for misuse.

6. Intellectual property

The Cartly name, logo, design and original content on this site and in the app belong to Cartly Groceries. Product names, store names and platform names (including Instacart and DoorDash) belong to their respective owners; they appear in Cartly only to identify products and where prices were observed. Cartly is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those owners.

7. Third-party services

Cartly links to third-party services — stores, delivery platforms, sign-in providers, and Apple TestFlight among them. Those services are run by others, under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, prices, or practices.

8. Disclaimers

Cartly is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that prices shown are accurate, current, complete, or available at any particular store, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent a warranty cannot legally be excluded, it is limited to the shortest period the law allows.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cartly Groceries and the people building it are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for losses arising from decisions you make based on prices or other information in Cartly — including any difference between a price shown in Cartly and the price charged by a store. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will update this page and note the new effective date. Continuing to use Cartly after a change means the updated terms apply.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
